Healing words

"Healing words"
graphite and ink on paper
38 x 28 cm.

Free interpretation of an antique mexican legend. Below an excerpt of it
"There was once a loving lord who lived in the Mayab lands, he was the only one who could cure all diseases. When patients came to him for help, he pulled a green stone from his pocket; then took it in his hands and whispered a few words. That was enough to heal any ill"

Monster close-up

Lots of work over here in the studio, but I managed to finish up this character close-up study. Now I wonder what will be in that mysterious place up there on his head.

Back to work!

The "rock biter" strikes again

New sketch of the 'Rock Biter', and this time he's really hungry! I must confess that I've been fascinated by this character for a long time. Here I wanted to make him look really immense. I may develop a close-up sketch before proceeding with colors.

Atreyu

This is my interpretation of Atreyu, the secondary protagonist in the book The Neverending Story by Michael Ende. In the original story he is a young Greenskin warrior from the Grassy Plains  His parents were killed by a Purple Buffalo soon after he was born, so his entire village raised him, thus his name means "son of all" in his native language. (wikipedia)

I've been working to take my illustration portfolio to a further level, and this piece may be going in the right direction. The piece is based on an old sketch I did back in 2012 which took me about 40 minutes to complete.

Chalkboards

Este fin de semana pinté tres pizarrones en las paredes de la casa. Uno en mi estudio y otro en la ex-sala, que ahora transformamos un espacio donde mi esposa estará impartiendo un taller de arte para niños por las próximas dos semanas.

I painted tree chalkboard in the walls of our house during the weekend. The one above is in my studio and the other one is in our ex-living room, now a space where my wife is teaching an art workshop for kids during the next two weeks.
